Whenever connecting to my ftp server, it will prompt me for my username and password, then i try login but the login fails, the second time i try, it just says it cannot connect to the server, then try again and it I can connect to the FTP server via telnet. I have it setup to accept connection to program inetinfo.exe on local and remote TCP ports 5001-5008 and allow connection. PS: in my firewall i have a rule setup called FTP Passive. I am using windows explorer as my FTP client. I will try set my Firewall IP to 127.0.0.1 and see what happens. I am using a packet sniffer and i am gettingįrom what ive learnt so far, it looks like its still in Active mode, trying to open random ports not within my passive range (5001-5008), Correct? Then i try connect again, and it instantly says it cannot make a connection, click ok then back, and open the FTP connection again, then it prompts for credentials etc, but still TIMES OUT, I specified the passive port range, 5001-5008 leaving the firewall IP blank as the firewall is hosted locally (same PC) or do i need to specify localhost (127.0.0.1)?īut the connection still times out, another odd thing, each time i attempt a connecting, It will fail This has been an ongoing problem for a while now and im quite despirate to get it going, below is a link to the error i am getting It also give me heaps of options for the encoding and lists about 40 which i can choose from such as ASCII, UTF8, UTF16 etc, but ive tried them all I found that i need to setup the following rules in my firewallįTP server's ports > 1023 from anywhere (Client initiates data connection to random port specified by server)įTP server's ports > 1023 to remote ports > 1023 (Server sends ACKs (and data) to client's data port)īut cant find where to configure these options?Īny help would be great, im trying to access the FTP site on my phone but comes up with error 425.
